Thornton himself suggests the only controls with his divided developer is adjusting the Metaborate level towards 20g/l to increase contrast, and lowering towards 7g/l to decrease contrast. D23 divided would be no better, Diafine can give around a stop increase, but there are better approaches. There ...

Steve asked me to chip in, this is a very odd issue, with 2 different brands of film. That rules out a film issue. You can use either TF-2 or TF-3

With Pyrocat HD there's no problem using Ilford Hypam or Rapidd Fixer, they don't have any effect on the stain.

Over washing can remove optical brighteners, so stick to manufacturers recommendations. Grossly over washing affects the Baryta kayer. It would be useful to know the film format. There have been 120 backing paper issues recently with Foma, Ilford, & Kodak films. While the backing papers differ slightly, they come from the same manufacturer. Apparently one of the components used was changed slightly by a 3rd party supplier, this ...
